Rick Bograd

Brendan Lynaugh

Rick Bograd

Rick enjoys working with any player who has a passion for learning and improvement, regardless of level. He has taught complete beginners through world ranked pros, ages 3-90, at every ability level. He has also coached countless local juniors who have achieved USTA rankings and played high school and college tennis as well as adults who have competed on club and USTA teams.

As a former attorney who prefers the tennis court to a court of law, Rick’s students benefit from his diagnostic expertise and ability to impart his understanding of strategy, technique, and sport psychology into useful information to produce results. For his more competitive students, he believes that improving performance requires training on mindfulness, the mental game and more effective problem solving under pressure. He treats each student uniquely and tries to prioritize areas to focus on based on where they are in their own tennis journey.

Rick has been teaching tennis in the local community for over 30 years. He grew up in Glen Rock, was a highly ranked junior, played #1 singles and doubles as co-Captain of the Tulane tennis team, then earned a world ATP ranking on the men’s professional tour.

Formerly Director of Tennis at Upper Ridgewood Tennis Club, Rick currently teaches outdoors at Brookside Racquet and Swim Club and indoors at Waldwick Covered Courts and Quest.

Brendan Lynaugh

Brendan Lynaugh was an all-county singles player at Ridgewood High School and played four years at Kenyon College, a top 25 Division III school. He competes now for the Brookside “A” Team in tennis and paddle tennis.

Brendan has been a USPTA certified professional and a staff professional in the area for over 15 years, having previously worked at Upper Ridgewood Tennis Club and Waldwick Covered Courts. He currently teaches at Brookside Racquet and Swim Club in Allendale and Quest Tennis in Mahwah. He’s also worked several years as a coach at the USTA Early Development Camps for top 10U players in the region.

In 2019, he founded a USTA Junior Team Tennis program at Waldwick Covered Courts and currently runs 18U, 14U, 12U, and 10U teams out of Quest. Many of his students play USTA tournaments or for their high school team. He particularly enjoys correcting and improving stroke-production and tactics and enjoys working with serious students of all ages who have a passion for the game.
